Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I wrote. Just wanted to let you know that I was 18 lbs on my 18 month checkup and now I'm close to 19 lbs at 19.5 months. So I'm doing great gaining weight!
I just got my flu shot Saturday. I didn't like it. Not one bit. Not at all.
Mama got her flu shot on Friday. I didn't like it. Not one bit. Not at all.
Daddy is going to get his. And I won't like that either. Just so you know.
I can say or sign or do both for about 30 words now. Maybe 40. I should be at 20 now. So I'm actually way ahead of the curve. And as for understanding words and phrases, I'm way way wayyyy ahead. I do need to practice learning my animals and their sounds. So mama and I are going to start doing some school time every day.
I'm going to go meet PT soon. I'm not sure who that is but Mama says my feet turn in a little bit so PT is going to help me stop doing that with some new shoes and maybe some games.
Speaking of games, I went to the playground with Mama today. I climbed all by myself up up up and down down down. Then we went down the slide together. I played on the swing a little but some kids didn't share so I couldn't go on the one that's my size. That's ok though. I played with my soccer ball and for the first time, I kicked it. We went home in my stroller and while Mama made lunch I fell asleep.
Lots to do later. I have to do my chores. Khaleesi needs to be fed her dinner. I should probably do some dusting too. Mama does pretty well but dust is endless in AZ she says. We might even go for a bike ride if we can get my new seat. Whew. Lots to do every day. I'll catch up with you again soon.
Love,
Mattigan

Tequila Makes My Clothes Fall Off
Matti's clothes sizes are now on their own page. Everyone asks and I fumble through explaining the size depending on the brand. So here they are: Size Matti Up. (<-- Click the link)

May Little Feet Hit The Floor (and not you!)
May found us with the wee one high stepping it around the house.
Matti "walks" from coffee table to Mama, from Daddy to Khaleesi, from
the dog's water to the electric cables... She still prefers bear
crawling to get long distances so I'm hesistant to say she's walking
everywhere. But she's almost there full time. I'm 100% sure Joe and I
have each lost 7% of our life span to the minor heart attacks we suffer
23% of every day as Matti traverses the open floor.
Matti is now 15 months old! Impossible to believe but there it is.
Weight: 16 lb 3 oz
Height: 28 in
Teeth: 6

One year ago almost to this exact moment we got a call from your doctor to say that you were going home today. We packed all our stuff at Oma and Opa's house, frantically throwing it into suitcases, tote bags, and plastic bags. We cleared off our dresser and cleared out leaving behind clothes still swinging on their hangers and a forlorn flip flop meanwhile telling our puppy we would be back for her. Driving to the hospital our hearts pounded in anticipation and seized up in fear that we would arrive only to find your big day would be postponed. It was surreal how quickly we signed papers, filled bags with your tiny bottles, itsy clothes, and as many hospital goodies as we could stash. (Why yes, we do need extra pacifiers, diapers, formula, gauze pads...) You were bundled into your car seat and with barely any fanfare we were ushered through a back hallway, the closing clang of the giant metal NICU doors echoing behind us in the sudden hush. And so your hospital stay ended as it had begun. Suddenly. Unexpectedly. Your journey home was a couple corridors, elevator ride, and short car trip ahead. Our hearts soaring with happiness and love; our family went home.

Happy Easter! Happy Spring!
Aunt Jenny turned 30 this month so a special shout out to her. :) And she's going to be an aunt to a boy soon in May when her sister has her baby so yay for that too.
Easter was also Oma's birthday so we had a special birthday dinner for her at our house followed by swimming at her house. Matti was a little under the weather. I think she was just overtired from her very busy weekend. So Easter morning she woke up, ate breakfast, then went back to sleep for a nap. The Easter bunny had left some goodies so Matti checked those out. She even had her very first peep - chocolate covered and yummy.
PHOTOS TO BE ADDED SOON. CRYING BABY WON'T LET ME.
In other news, we're working on our house. The drainage is fixed a la french drain system so the patio should not flood the next time we get rain for more than an hour. I know, Arizona doesn't get a lot of rain. But it doesn't take much to flood. Khaleesi has a new kingdom which will soon have her very own magical entrance (automatic pet door). It comes complete with a javelina (wild boar) figurine on the gate used by humans. She reminds us of Pumba...and it's not the quick jokes... Opa built the new kingdom gates and completed the drainage system with me while Joe was at work. I'm working on sprucing up some yard decor and keeping my garden/plants alive thus far. I've got basil, mint, chives, parsley, strawberries and tomatoes along with cacti and aloe. Joe and I added a fire pit recently which looks pretty good if I do say so myself.
Matti has been not quite herself yesterday and today. Probably more teeth. Yippee. Freaking. Great. So I am updating this post while trying to not make eye contact with the Tiny Tyrant.

Halloween In Nebraska
So we hopped a train to Georgia. Er- I mean a plane to Nebraska. :)
Mattigan's first flight went pretty well. Security was really nice and helped us move our things along so we didn't hold up the line. Despite the very early morning, the airport, the strangeness, and the flight itself, Matti was pretty calm. She made lots of big eyes at our fellow travelers, drank her bottle, and napped during the flight.
Grandma Rosemary picked us up at the airport. It was her first time meeting Matti. A couple big smiles later and everyone was introduced.
Being Halloween, the weather was chilly. Lots of wind! But we had a couple of nice sunny days.

Mattigan didn't go trick or treating, but she was the cutest pumpkin on the block. Loving the outfit! We handed out candy with Grandma Rosemary to the early trick-or-treaters.
It was nice to enjoy a homecooked dinner courtesy of Stacia. Soup on a chilly Halloween night is just about perfect. Some friends even dropped in on us at Dad's while they were making the rounds with their two kids.

We made the rounds visiting everyone, took naps, and kicked back with the family at Uncle Terry's house. "Grunkle" Terry, Great Aunt Lois, Great Uncle Dave, cousin Tommy and his wife Sarah, cousin Teddy and his girlfriend Mary, and Great Grandma Elly got to meet Miss Matti for the first time too. Joe and I enjoyed a Huskers game with Sarah and Tom while Poppy and Grandma Stacia babysat. Yay! Check out Matti's 1st jersey!
We were up early every day (which is really early in AZ time) and on the go go go, but Matti did terrific. It was great to see everyone!
